A District representative stated that these issues were reported in connection with a District employee linked to Garfield Elementary School located in Alhambra during January 2026, as authorities investigated the possibility of recording a student without their consent. Their investigation led them to arrest the individual concerned, and the District responded with assistance from both law enforcement and District personnel. The investigation is still ongoing at this time, with both organizations making it clear that the safety and privacy of students is of utmost importance while they are being reviewed.
Q1. What options do students have when it comes to transportation arrangements to Garfield Elementary School?
Ans. There are procedures in place based on the policies of the school district regarding transportation to and from school for students who attend Garfield Elementary School. The majority of students within the attendance zone will walk or be taken by a parent to and from school. The district may arrange for limited transportation for eligible students based on established eligibility criteria, upon completion of an application process.
Q2. Is there any support provided by Garfield Elementary School for English language learners?
Ans. Yes, district schools provide English language learner programs with the goal of supporting the development of language skills for students while providing grade-level academic instruction.
Q3. Does Garfield Elementary School provide any technological resources to its students?
Ans. Digital technology resources are, generally, incorporated into the classroom setting with the use of a variety of educationally-based technology by students to access additional learning opportunities-for example, by providing students with a computers/tablet devices to use during class to access educationally appropriate websites to improve their skills in reading and/or math or for research purposes.

Ans. The majority of schools in the district will provide participating students with access to the breakfast and lunch programs that are offered by the nutrition services department of the district. Ans.
