Step Up School in Mesa, Arizona, is a public charter K–8 school that is listed as one of the top elementary schools in Arizona for having an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Established in 2012 and governed by STEP UP Schools Inc., Step Up serves 63 students who are 46% female and 54% male, 92% minority, and 94% economically disadvantaged. As a Title I school, Step Up provides free meals, free after-school tutoring, sports, a chess club, and Girl Scouts. Approximately 10% of students achieved proficiency in both math and reading. Utilizing a small-group instruction approach, which includes ESL programs and reading interventions, the school works to help every child progress. Even in the face of such circumstances, Step Up School is committed to building confidence, character, and accomplishment. As of August 2025, Mesa's median home price stands at $479,000, with the median for 85212 at $590,000 and Mesa East's median at $435,000. Prices are only slightly down, and there are even a few neighborhoods that are stable or slightly up.This commitment keeps Step Up in the conversation as one of the best elementary schools in Arizona for community and holistic education.
