About Cary Woods Elementary School

Cary Woods Elementary serves children from kindergarten through second grade in the Cary Woods neighborhood and receives support through Title I funding. The school has 26 classrooms, playgrounds, and a nature trail, giving students plenty of opportunities to explore and connect with the outdoors during the school day. Cary Woods' environment is designed to be safe and welcoming, where kids feel loved and encouraged to take risks in their learning and creativity. Teachers at Cary Woods focus on and encourage helping children develop a genuine love for learning while also teaching them to appreciate the differences among their classmates. The student community at this school is quite diverse, with nearly 44% of the students coming from minority backgrounds. About 22% of the children belong to the economically challenging families. Despite these challenges, many students are doing well academically. Around 75% of the students meet grade-level expectations in math. Even more students, about 82%, are meeting or exceeding reading standards, which points to a strong focus on literacy skills. These numbers suggest that the school is working to help most students keep up with important academic milestones while addressing the needs of its diverse population.
