Wheeler Elementary School is located at 6707 S 178th Street, Omaha, in the southwest Omaha/Millard area. The school serves grades PK–5 and enrolls about 638 students. Wheeler Elementary School held its winter concert on December 1, 2025. Students performed on stage at the Millard West High School theater, showcasing the music they had been practicing throughout the season. Families filled the auditorium and enjoyed a festive, well-received performance.
Q1. How does Wheeler teach kids how to read scales for simple tools?
Ans. In early math and science lessons, students learn how to read basic increments on rulers, thermometers, and gauges through hands-on activities.
Q2. How does the school help students learn how to take turns in conversation?
Ans. Teachers show students how to take turns and use speaking sticks and they also help them wait politely for their turn to speak during discussions.
Q3. What routines help with handing out materials in the classroom?
Ans. Wheeler uses helper roles, passing procedures, and clear table assignments to make sure that materials are distributed quickly and easily.
Q4. How does Wheeler help kids learn about the makeup of soil?
Ans. In basic science activities, students look at soil samples and compare the particles in them, such as sand, clay, and organic matter.
Q5. What does the school do to make sure that students pack up their things in a responsible way when they leave?
Ans. Before going home, students follow a set of steps to get their things, check their folders, and get their backpacks ready.
