SHOEMAKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL participated in district initiatives aimed at strengthening early literacy and building strong classroom communities across Grand Island Public Schools. Teachers incorporated new reading materials, book clubs, and small-group conferences to better match texts with student interests. Math lessons emphasized problem-solving and the use of visual models, while technology stations provided additional practice in both subjects.

Ans. Students can get help with reading, practice their fluency, and get leveled books to read at home.

Ans. Yes, classrooms use science projects, simple engineering tasks, and experiments to make kids more curious.

Ans. The school sends out weekly folders, emails, district messages, and sometimes classroom apps to keep in touch with students.
Q4. Do students at SHOEMAKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL have any leadership or responsibility roles?
Ans. Older students can help with announcements, support their classmates, or be classroom helpers at any time of the year.

Ans. A school counselor and classroom teachers teach SEL lessons, give students ways to handle conflicts, and check in with each student when they need to.
