Dover, Delaware is the capital of Kent County, Delaware, and is a mid-sized American city with a population of about 39,403 as of 2020. Dover is known for its small size and mix of small-town charm and city conveniences. It has a diverse and community-oriented way of life. The city has about 21 public schools that serve about 9,283 students and about 16 private schools that serve about 1,595 students.
