About Susan Solomon

Susan Solomon brings nineteen years of experience as a college admissions officer and many additional years as a high school Director of College Counseling, giving her a uniquely comprehensive view of the college process from both sides of the desk. As Assistant Director of Admission for Boston University, she managed the West Coast region, interviewed hundreds of students, read thousands of applications, and made admission decisions across majors ranging from liberal arts and engineering to a competitive accelerated medical program. After returning to the Bay Area, she served as Associate Director of Admission at Notre Dame de Namur University, working extensively with transfer students and athletes.?

Susan then transitioned into school-based counseling as Director of College Counseling at Kehillah Jewish High School in Palo Alto, where she guided hundreds of students and their families through the college search and application journey—supporting them academically and emotionally from first conversations to final decisions. She later continued her counseling work with Pacific Bay Christian School and as an independent educational consultant through Susan Solomon College Counseling LLC.?

She has been actively involved in national (NACAC), regional (WACAC), and local college counseling organizations and has been a featured speaker on admissions, financial aid, transfer processes, learning differences, honors colleges, Western Undergraduate Exchange, essays, and extracurricular activities. Born and raised in San Francisco, Susan earned her degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MA degree in Higher Education Administration and Pupil Personnel from Boston College. A fifth-generation San Franciscan now living in San Mateo with her husband, David, she is also the parent of two sons who graduated from Aragon High School and are now university students, adding a parental perspective to her professional insight.
