About Joie Jager-Hyman
Dr. Joie Jager-Hyman is Founder and President of College Prep 360, a top boutique educational advising firm in New York City that she established in January 2010. College Prep 360 specializes in undergraduate admissions with a team that includes admissions professionals who have worked at Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Stanford, the University of Chicago and other top colleges, maintaining a laser focus on the trends and issues that matter most to students and families. She is an internationally acclaimed expert on the transition from high school to college, including the selective college application process, helping students defy the odds and get into the colleges of their dreams with integrity. She is also Co-Founder of Hugo Mentors, an educational startup that matches high school students with mentors in academics and service to promote meaningful personal and intellectual growth. She is the author of two books: Fat Envelope Frenzy, published by Harper Collins and B+ Grades A+ Applications, published by Random House.?
In addition to her work with College Prep 360 and Hugo Mentors, Joie serves as a consultant for the Yale Center of Emotional Intelligence, which conducts research and creates programs that use the power of emotions to build a more effective and compassionate society, having worked with them from 2016 to 2019. She has been a member of the National Board for uAspire since 2018, a nonprofit organization ensuring that all young people have the financial information and resources necessary to find an affordable path to and through college with a singular focus on college affordability and removing financial barriers. Since February 2024, she has served as a Board Member at Groundswell Community Mural Project, which brings together artists, youth and community organizations to use art as a tool for social change, and since August 2023 as a Board Member of the Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund, which provides month-long paid apprenticeships for young adults to live on sustainable farms. In 2018, she served as Acting Policy Director for Max Rose's campaign for the NY-11 Congressional District, helping elect the Representative for Staten Island and South Brooklyn.
Before founding College Prep 360, Joie worked as Assistant Director of Admissions at Dartmouth College from 2000 to 2002, gaining deep institutional knowledge of selective college admissions. She served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2004 to 2005, teaching courses on Affirmative Action in Higher Education, Introduction to Education Policy and The History of Higher Education. She worked as Research Consultant for numerous organizations including Harvard Law School in 2011 writing a case study on the Posse Foundation, Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2009, College for Everyone conducting multi-year program evaluation for over 400 participants, U.S. Department of Education from 2004 to 2006, Let's Get Ready in 2005, Satellite Academy High School from 2006 to 2007 creating college counseling curriculum for 200 students, and Pathways to College Network in 2008. She also served as Public Speaking Instructor at Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership from 2005 to 2009. Joie holds a Doctor of Education in Education Policy Management from Harvard Graduate School of Education, a Master of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an A.B. in Philosophy from Dartmouth College.
