Rama Sehtia

Rama Sehtia is the founder of Inside College Counseling, an independent college counseling practice she established in January 2011 in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is an Independent Educational Planner and member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, bringing together her 25 years of teaching and administrative experience in the US and overseas with her deep understanding of the college admission process. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed teaching at various grade levels in different settings, including public and private, catholic and independent schools. Her passion for teaching and helping students pursue their higher education goals has become an inseparable part of her life journey.?

Rama moved to the United States in 2000 with her husband and two children, who are now aged 17 and 21. Having guided her own two children through the college admission process, she understands firsthand the anxiety, challenges and hard work needed to prepare a successful college application package. This personal experience, combined with her strong desire to help other students and families, motivated her to acquire professional education in educational planning and launch her independent counseling practice. Before founding Inside College Counseling, she worked as an Upper School Teacher at The Harker School in San Jose from August 2008 to August 2011, where she created technology based teaching materials for Honors level Geometry, served as advisor for junior class students guiding them through their four years of high school, acted as liaison between students, faculty and parents, and was a member of The Harker Community Committee.?

Rama holds a Bachelor of Education from Maharshi Dayanand University, a Master of Business Administration from Shri Ram College of Commerce, and a Bachelor of Business Administration also from Shri Ram College of Commerce. Her combination of business education, teaching credentials and extensive classroom experience informs her comprehensive approach to college counseling. In her free time, she enjoys reading, socializing and traveling, describing herself as a sun-adoring outdoorsy type who loves each day in California.
