About Madeline Duckhorn

Madeline Duckhorn is a college counselor at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California, where she has guided students through the college search and application process since June 2024. Before joining Bellarmine, she spent nearly five years at Villa Maria Academy High School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, serving as a college counselor from 2020 to 2024 after completing a counseling internship there from 2019 to 2020. At Villa Maria, she directly assisted 11th and 12th-grade students with college planning, indirectly supported approximately 250 students annually, co-taught senior and junior seminar classes, met with college admissions representatives and planned college counseling events throughout the academic year.?

During her graduate studies at Villanova University, Madeline gained extensive experience in student affairs and counseling through multiple roles. She served as Head Resident Assistant, overseeing five resident assistants and 240 first-year students, managed roommate disputes and mental health crises as a Resident Assistant, and worked as a Graduate Assistant supporting research and teaching for Dr. Stacey Havlik. She presented at conferences, including the American School Counseling Association National Conference in New Orleans and completed practicum experiences at Blair Mill Elementary School, where she worked with individual students, ran groups and planned guidance lessons. Her understanding of the admissions process is further enhanced by her experience as an Admissions Assistant and Head Admissions Assistant at Villanova University, where she gave campus tours, created schedules for student workers, managed the Slate platform and assisted with hiring for full-time admissions positions.?

Madeline holds a Master of Science in Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both from Villanova University. She is a member of Chi Sigma Iota Honor Fraternity, the American School Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association. Her background combines college counseling expertise with strong foundations in student development, crisis intervention, research and higher education operations, positioning her to provide comprehensive support to students navigating postsecondary pathways.?
