About Cesar Guerrero

Cesar Guerrero is Director of Academic Guidance and College Counseling at Convent and Stuart Hall High School in San Francisco, where he also leads the K 12 admissions process and supports a dynamic guidance model for every student in the community. He brings more than two decades of experience on both sides of the college desk, combining university enrollment management with secondary school advising to help students navigate admissions with clarity and confidence. Students recognize his mentorship and genuine care during what can be a turbulent process, while colleagues affirm his professionalism and expertise in the field.?

Since 2011, Cesar has built and led the college counseling program first at Stuart Hall High School and now across Convent and Stuart Hall, developing a strategic model that brings freshmen and sophomores into the process early and includes robust parent education. He reintroduced and expanded the use of Naviance, created a college counseling course for grades 11 and 12, launched a student College Ambassador Program and provided training for faculty on recommendation writing and advocacy. His prior work at High Tech High included designing and implementing the college counseling model for two startup charter campuses, emphasizing a faculty-driven advising structure and universal participation in a two-semester college counseling course.?

Earlier in his career, Cesar served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Chapman University, managing recruitment in multiple California regions, reading and evaluating applications and serving as liaison to the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. He has also worked as an undergraduate admissions reader for UC San Diego and as an instructor in a college counseling certification program, helping train both school-based and independent counselors. A first-generation college graduate from UC Irvine, he credits his own mentors with changing his trajectory and grounds his mission in meeting the needs of every student and family he serves.
