About Pittsburgh Classical

Pittsburgh Classical 6–8 is a public magnet middle school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is a big city. The school teaches grades 6 through 8 and has about 276 students. The number of students at Pittsburgh Classical 6–8 is about the same as the district average: 11 students for every 26 full-time teachers. This means that there aren't many students in each class. The classical education model at Pittsburgh Classical gives students a strong base in core academic subjects and extra study in music, literature, the arts, and world languages like Spanish. This method puts a lot of stress on being disciplined in school, knowing about different cultures, and thinking critically. There are 57% girls and 43% boys in the school. It helps a lot of people in the community, and all of the students are considered to be poor. A lot of the students are from minority groups, which shows how different Pittsburgh's urban neighborhoods are. According to USA News, about 11% of students are good at math, and 37% are good at reading (ELA) or better. Even though the district's academic performance shows that there is room for improvement, it spends a lot of money on each student.
