The NYC Reads video series "Structured Literacy, Multilingual Power" shows how structured literacy helps new students at South Bronx International Middle School (MS 593). The school helps students do better in school by using their first languages as a base for learning English and other important subjects. This method makes it easier for students to get used to learning in the classroom and makes them more likely to take part in lessons. The program shows that the school is dedicated to making sure that all students get the help they need to do well in school.
