The Biloxi Public School District runs Biloxi Junior High School, which is a public middle school for grades 7–8. The school has about 880 students and a student–teacher ratio of about 14:1, which helps keep class sizes small and makes it easier for students to get help. The students come from a wide range of racial and economic backgrounds, just like the people who live in Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. According to data from USA News, about 72% of students do well enough in math to be considered proficient, and 47% do well enough in reading to be considered proficient. The school emphasizes instruction that aligns with standards and cultivates skills essential for college and career preparedness. Extracurricular activities, athletics, and academic enhancement opportunities are beneficial for students. The school gets money from the government for public education and benefits from community involvement in a city known for its coastal lifestyle and stable neighborhoods. Biloxi Junior High School has good academic results, making it one of the best schools in Mississippi.
