A seventh-grade student at Fesler (Isaac) Junior High won the Cesar E. Chavez and Dolores Huerta Education Award in visual arts last school year. With help from art teacher J. Danyale Hicks, student Karla Lopez made a piece of art about food waste in public schools. The statewide award showed how students were involved in social issues through their visual arts classes.
