L. A. Chaffin Middle School is 3400 North 51st Street in Fort Smith. It has 800 students in grades 7–8 and a student–teacher ratio of 15:1. 66% of students are good at math and 65% are good at reading. There are 49% female and 51% male. The school is a place where people can learn and grow academically. Students can choose from a wide range of academic and extracurricular programs that are meant to help them grow in middle school. The school administration's main goal is to keep the school safe and productive for everyone. Prices for homes in Fort Smith range from $160,000 to $300,000. Parents often praise the wide range of extracurricular activities and the good communication between teachers and parents. This is one ofthe best middle schools in Arkansas. There are a lot of established neighborhoods in the housing inventory that are close to the school campus. To help the student body, families often go to school events and sports games. L. A. Chaffin Middle School students are participating in a new peer-mentoring program designed to support academic growth and social development this semester. The school recently updated its digital learning platforms to provide more interactive resources for students and parents during the 2025-2026 term. Faculty members are currently collaborating on a new cross-curricular project that combines history and technology for all grade levels.
