As part of its multi-phase building renovation that was finished in early 2026, Vel Phillips Memorial High School has recently opened a new, large student commons and library media center. The school's robotics team recently made it to the regional finals, showing that they are very good at working together and using technology. The administration has also started a new program to help students get ready for college. It offers SAT and ACT workshops on campus just for juniors and seniors.
