It is one of the best schools in the area, with about 1,100 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 13:1. Southwest High School is known as one of the best schools because of its specialized programs, like the Academy of Business, and it has a 22% participation rate in Advanced Placement® classes. Half of the students are from minority groups, and 48% of the students are considered economically disadvantaged. In 2026, 24% of students are good at math and 36% are good at reading. The school holds ACT and SAT tests every year to help students get into college. Southwest High School is one of the best schools in the area. For the year 2026, Southwest High School has just started a new "Global Studies" certificate program. It makes students want to learn more about world languages and take part in international exchange projects. The technical education department at the school has new automotive technology tools that meet the latest training standards for students in that field. The Southwest performing arts department also won awards for its winter show, which had a lot of students acting and doing stagecraft.
Q1. Does Southwest High School have the ACT?
Ans. School students can take the ACT during the school day to make sure that as many people as possible can take it and get help.
Q2. What is the "Academy of Business"?
Ans. This program lets students learn about marketing and finance in a setting that is like a real job.
Q3. How are the world languages supported?
Ans. Students in school can get the Seal of Biliteracy, which shows that they are fluent in both English and another language.
Q4. What are the chances to play music?
Ans. Famous marching and jazz bands let school kids play at important community and state events.
Q5. Is there a mentorship program?
Ans. Peer-to-peer mentoring helps new students adjust to high school life more easily.
