There are about 1,200 students at the school, and there is one teacher for every 17 students. This makes lessons more structured and interesting. Sammamish Senior High School is one of eight high schools in the district and it is the one of the best high school in Washington. The school has a hard college-prep curriculum that includes Advanced Placement tests and classes. About 64% of students are in AP classes. Students can take honors classes, pick their own classes, and join clubs and activities that help them grow as people and students. About 40% of students were good at math and about 73% were good at reading in the 2025–2026 school year. The school gives students SAT and ACT tests to help them get ready for college. There are a lot of different kinds of students at Sammamish Senior High School. About 67% of them are from racial or ethnic minorities, and about 41% of them economically disadvantaged.

A $100 million project has made big changes to Sammamish Senior High School. It has added new buildings, such as a full-size gym, music classrooms, and science labs. The school is putting accessibility and security upgrades at the top of its list of things to do. Sammamish students have also been praised for their math skills by adding an Algebra 1 class for middle school students.
