Enrolling approximately 490 students in grades 9–12, the school provides a personalized educational experience with a student-to-teacher ratio of about 11:1. It has a 32% Advanced Placement participation rate, which makes it one of the best schools for offering a wide range of academic options. 14% of the students are minorities and 53% are considered economically disadvantaged. Academic data shows that 22% of students are good at reading and 2% are good at math. This March, Otter Valley Union High School will hold its third annual Career Day and Pathways Fair. This year, there will be a new "Financial Reality Fair" where 9th graders can learn about budgeting and making financial decisions in the real world. The school is also giving all juniors a free SAT testing day this April to make sure that everyone has equal access to college readiness tests during the regular school day. The performing arts department is also getting ready for its spring showcase of short plays and the "Pathways to Possibilities" community event.
