The school has about 860 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 13:1. This means that teachers can give each student more one-on-one attention. Estacado High School has a college-preparatory curriculum that includes Advanced Placement (AP) classes, dual-credit options, and early college programs that work with local colleges to help students who want to go to college. There are a lot of Hispanic and African American students at the school, and many of them come from families with low incomes. Recent data shows that 23% of students are good at math and 32% are good at reading (ELA). This is lower than the state average. People tell students to take tests like the SAT and ACT to get into college. As extracurricular activities, Estacado High School has sports, Junior ROTC, and other clubs for students. The Lubbock ISD police quickly responded to the arrest of an 18-year-old outside the Estacado High School with a handgun. The investigation is still going on, but no injuries were reported, which made students and families worried about their safety.
