The school wants to make sure that each student gets the one-on-one help they need in a focused academic environment. The students at the school come from many different backgrounds. 26% are from minority groups, and 54% come from families with low incomes. The SC Whitmore School's main goal is to help students do better in school by giving them hard classes and one-on-one help. The school teaches students how to read and do basic math, and it also helps them get ready for college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT. 20% of students were good at math and 55% were good at reading in 2025–2026. SC Whitmore School puts the needs of its students first. It is a safe place for kids to learn, get involved, and do well. People say that this is one of the best charter schools for making sure that everyone can get an education. It does this by giving students structure, one-on-one help, and chances to succeed in the Columbia community.

SC Whitmore School is happy about how well its accelerated graduation track worked. During the 2025–2026 school year, a record number of students were able to finish their requirements early. As a virtual charter school, it has recently improved its own learning platform to make it easier for students and South Carolina-certified teachers to work together in real time. The school also started a new Virtual College Tour series that lets students talk to admissions officers from all over the country without having to leave their homes.
