It is one of five high schools in the Richland 02 School District and serves students in grades 9–12. The school has between 1,200 and 1,300 students, and the student-to-teacher ratio is low enough that teachers can give each student the help they need in a friendly setting. Richland Northeast High School is one of the best schools for Advanced Placement® classes and tests. About 23% of students take AP classes. The school puts a lot of emphasis on programs that help students get ready for college, think critically, and get ready for jobs. These programs help students get ready for both college and the job market. Standardized tests like the SAT and ACT also help students move up in school. There are a lot of different kinds of students. 90% are minorities, and 68% are low-income. Per-student funding pays for technology, learning materials, and extra programs. Richland Northeast High School's Convergence Media program, which recently won several state-level awards for excellence in journalism and broadcasting, sets the school apart. The school is also adding new interdisciplinary projects to its International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. These projects will connect global issues with local community service. The Cavalier athletics department also recently celebrated the signing of National Letters of Intent by several student-athletes who will compete at the college level starting in the fall of 2026.
