About Scranton HS

Scranton High School is a public high school in Scranton, Pennsylvania, for students in grades 9–12. There are two high schools in the Scranton School District, and this is one of them. The school has between 2,300 and 2,400 students, and there are about 17 teachers for every student. This makes it possible to teach at a college in a big city. Scranton High School offers a full academic program, with Advanced Placement® classes and tests. About 14% of students are in college-level classes called AP classes. Taking the SAT and ACT, getting help with their schoolwork, and joining programs that help them learn more are other ways for students to get ready for college and work. The curriculum is mostly about the main subjects, how to think critically, and how to get ready for college and other things you can do after high school. The school has a lot of different kinds of students, and about 64% of them are not white. The school is in a neighborhood where all the kids can get help with their money. Reports for the school year 2025–2026 show that 12% of students are good at math and 54% are good at reading.
