The school is focused on giving students who might benefit from different or more focused academic instruction a supportive and personalized place to learn. The East Community Learning Center's student robotics program made news when a female student from the school qualified for the state robotics championship two years in a row. This showed that more students were doing well in STEM and getting involved in after-school activities at the Akron public high school.
