Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment is a continued leader in hands-on environmental education, working with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden where students regularly engage in field studies that supplement classroom science. The school’s chapter leader and UFT members waged a successful campaign to keep BASE as an independent school, preserving its 94% graduation rate and close community ties.
