Paterson P-TECH High School has a curriculum that focuses on careers and technology. It combines hands-on learning with academic classes to get students ready for college and industry certifications. The school also has Advanced Placement® (AP®) classes, and about 41% of students take them. These classes help students get ready for college and do more advanced work. There are a lot of different kinds of students at this school. About 97% of them are minorities, and about 40% of them economically disadvantaged. Paterson P-TECH High School has done very well, with students winning the NASA Tech Rise Student Challenge and getting a spot on a NASA-sponsored flight. The school has also teamed up with Passaic County Community College to offer online classes, which give students a chance to get a head start on college. P-TECH students have also taken part in events like Women's History Month, where they showed off their projects and outreach work.
