The Paterson Public School District has seven high schools that teach students in grades 9 through 12. The school has about 1,800 students and one teacher for every 14 to 15 students. This makes the school organized and has a lot of different classes. John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson has core academic classes, elective pathways, and Advanced Placement® (AP®) classes. The school has a lot of different kinds of students. About 94% of them are minorities, and about 48% of them economically disadvantaged. From 2025 to 2026, about 10% of students are good at math and 15% are good at reading. The SAT and ACT are also standardized tests that students take. At the district level, money for each student goes to programs for technology, teaching, and student services. Paterson's John F. Kennedy High School is in a city and has a diverse student body that helps students get ready for college, improve their academic skills, and learn new ones.

Solaris Paul, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School, made history as Paterson's first state wrestling champion, showing off his amazing athletic skills. The school has a lot of extracurricular activities, such as soccer, softball, and basketball teams. JFK High School also takes part in events like Spirit Week and the Spring Pep Rally, which get students involved and boost school spirit. The school also puts a lot of emphasis on academics, and students take the PSAT and SAT tests.
