Columbia, Maryland's Atholton High School is a public high school that serves grades 9–12. Howard County Public Schools has fifteen high schools, and this is one of them. There are about 2,000 students at the school, and there are 17 students for every teacher. This makes the learning environment more interesting and collaborative. One of the best schools in the area is Atholton High School. About 53% of students take Advanced Placement (AP) classes and tests. It also has honors programs and paths to get ready for college.There are students from a wide range of backgrounds. About 72% of the students are from minority groups, and about 24% are low income. About 20% of students were good at math and 61% were good at reading in the 2025–2026 school year. The school gives students SAT and ACT tests to help them get ready for college. Atholton High School is in a suburban area where the community is very supportive. It still looks good because of its hard classes, student involvement, and chances for everyone. This school is the best school in Colombia.

Atholton High School's drama department is getting ready for its spring musical in 2026. This comes after a successful winter showcase that showed off how well the student stage crew could do their jobs. This semester, the school has also started a new peer-tutoring program in the media center. This program helps students who are good at math and world languages. Also, a number of varsity indoor track and field athletes set personal bests and times that qualified them for the state meet during the January 2026 regional meets.
