The STEAM Academy is a new public high school in Lexington, Kentucky, for students in grades 9–12. It is a specialized program in the Fayette County Public Schools that uses a mastery-based learning model that focuses on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The school has about 16 students for every teacher, which helps create a collaborative atmosphere. STEAM Academy is known as one of the best schools for academics, with 49% of students doing well in math and 68% doing well in reading, and it is one of the best High School in "Kentucky" . There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school. 48% of the students are minorities, and 39% of the students are economically disadvantaged. The school is well-known as one of the best places for students who want a non-traditional, project-based education. The academy gets about $15,741 per student from the district and offers a tough curriculum that gets students ready for the demands of the modern workforce. Its main strengths are its strong ties to colleges and universities and its focus on finding creative solutions to problems.

The STEAM Academy is getting ready to move into a new, permanent building at the old Johnson Elementary School site. This will give students access to cutting-edge labs and design spaces. The school recently started a Project-Based Learning program with the University of Kentucky. This lets students work on engineering and design problems that happen in the real world. Also, students are taking part in new dual-credit pathways that stress mastery in the arts, science, technology, engineering, and math.
