Vernon Hills High School was named the 2026 National School Library of the Year by the American Association of School Librarians, earning a $10,000 award for its implementation of the National School Library Standards and innovative student-centered programming. The Cougars opened the 2025-2026 school year on August 14, 2025 and hosted Back to School Night on August 19, with SAT and ACT testing scheduled for April 7-8, 2026 for grades 9-11. VHHS students can access the district’s Cougar Class Act Awards, vhgive Day on April 24, 2026, and a Unity Fair on April 22, 2026, plus expanded AP and dual credit options.
