About Kalaheo High School

Kalaheo High School is one of the best schools in Kailua and is the best public high school for grades 9 through 12. With a student-to-teacher ratio of about 16:1 and an enrollment of almost 800 students, it is known as one of the best schools because of its high academic standards. The school offers a lot of Advanced Placement® classes, and a lot of students take them (49%), and it is one of the best high school in Hawaii. The campus has a unique demographic profile, with 54% of students being minorities and 16% being economically disadvantaged. A 70% proficiency rate in Reading and a 26% proficiency rate in Mathematics show that the school is doing well academically. Students are strongly encouraged to take the SAT and ACT to improve their chances of getting into college. Kalaheo High School is one of the best schools in the state. For the 2025–2026 school year, Kalaheo High School is going to make big changes to its buildings. One of these changes is a big project to turn the gym and cafeteria into modern hurricane shelters. The Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the school are still going strong. Students recently won first place in both cooking and building at the Windward District Performance Based Assessments. Also, the student leaders are doing their best to make the school better in the future. For instance, at the 2026 Secondary Student Conference, delegates talked about plans for student facilities and interests.
