About Classic City High School

Athens, Georgia's Classic City High School is a public alternative high school for students in grades 9–12. It is part of the Clarke County School District and has between 60 and 120 students. There is one teacher for every twelve students, which means that each student gets more one-on-one help. Traditional proficiency data for math and reading (ELA) is often not reported because it focuses on different ways of teaching. The fact that most of the students are from minority groups shows how diverse the community is. The Title I program in the district helps students from low-income families get extra help. Classic City High School is a part of this program. Students at alternative schools might not take standardized tests like the SAT in the same way that students at regular high schools do. Classic City High School is meant to help students who need one-on-one help with their schoolwork and flexible ways to graduate. It does this by focusing on personalized learning and setting goals for learning.
