The Freire Charter School in Wilmington is starting new peer-mediation programs to help create a school culture that is peaceful and supportive, with a focus on nonviolence and student leadership. The school is still committed to preparing students for college, and seniors are taking part in intensive college counseling workshops to help them with the admissions and financial aid processes. Students also work on community-based learning projects that let them use what they learn in class to solve problems in Wilmington, Delaware.
