Del Norte High is the best public high school in the Poway Unified School District for grades 9–12. With a student-to-teacher ratio of about 26:1 and strict academic standards, it is known as one of the best schools in the area. The school has a diverse student body, with 65% of students being from minority groups and 10% being economically disadvantaged. Del Norte High is one of the best schools for advanced studies, with 76% of students taking Advanced Placement classes. The school is known for its high academic standards, with 85% of students being proficient in reading and 77% in math. Students regularly take college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT to help them reach their goals after high school. The school is in the master-planned community of 4S Ranch and is known for having some of the best facilities and a competitive environment. In the end, its strengths are its high level of academic achievement and its dedication to preparing students for college, and it is one of the best high school in California.

Del Norte High School is still doing well in the arts. Recently, five students were chosen for the 2026 Northern California Honor Band, which is a new record for the school. The campus will hold an Innovators & Builders event in March 2026 to help students meet people who work in engineering and construction. The school's first Roots of Wellness Summit also showed how much they care about their students' well-being by introducing new ways to help teens with mental health issues and peer support.
