With about 24 students for every teacher, the school focuses on giving each student individual attention through its unique independent study format. The school is known for helping students do better in school, with 74% of students passing Reading and 18% passing Math. These numbers show that there is a strong focus on English Language Arts and helping all students. The school helps students get into college by giving them tests like the SAT and ACT. The school is in the suburbs of San Diego's East County and provides a stable and focused environment for about 450 students. Altus Schools East County has recently become more involved in the community by forming 24 active partnerships with local groups. These partnerships give students more chances to learn and get jobs. This school year (2024–2025), the campus started a new program to make sure that all students get free breakfast and lunch every day. This is to help them stay healthy and focused on their studies. The school also cares a lot about safety and new ideas.
