It is one of 13 high schools in the Antelope Valley Union High School District and is known as one of the best schools because of its long history and wide range of educational programs. There are about 2,200 students at the school, and there are about 22 students for every teacher. Antelope Valley High has a lot of different academic paths, and 34% of students take Advanced Placement classes. The school is very diverse, with 97% of its students being minorities and 79% of its students being from low-income families. The performance data shows that only 4% of students are good at math and 28% are good at reading. Students are also encouraged to take college entrance tests like the SAT and ACT. The school is known as one of the best in the area because of its dedicated staff and its commitment to creating a community-focused environment where students can do well in both school and outside of school activities, and it is one of the best high schools in California.

Antelope Valley High School has successfully started the second semester of 2026. Students and teachers are now working on new school goals and ways to improve the campus. The school keeps adding new Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways. These are programs that teach students how to work in fields like Media Arts, Theatre, and Visual Arts. The campus has resources for Advanced Placement (AP) classes and has recently held informational sessions to help students get ready for college and plan for the spring. This is to help more people go to college.
