Garland, Texas, a dynamic suburb northeast of Dallas, has a population of over 240,000 and is known for its strong manufacturing sector, cultural diversity, and affordable living. The Garland Independent School District (GISD) serves approximately 53,000 students, making it one of the largest districts in Texas. The graduation rate is around 91%, while reading and math proficiency averages between 40–60%. GISD offers school choice, allowing families to select from specialized programs in STEM, fine arts, and dual language. While academic performance is steady, there’s a continued focus on supporting at-risk students and increasing post-secondary readiness.
