Columbia, which is located in Tennessee, has a population of approximately 41,000 people and 6,500 elementary school students across the district, including Riverside Elementary School. Students receive a solid education from kindergarten through 6th grade. The required curriculum is determined by the Tennessee Department of Education to establish what should be taught, and students are required to attend school a minimum of 180 days a year, for 6.5 hours each day. The Columbia school district is responsible for the local elementary schools and provides students with special classes, enrichment activities, or supplemental programming in activity areas including, but not limited to, coding, robotics, and the arts. Students participating at Riverside Elementary School are excellent readers and mathematicians, and they have represented their school and district well in competitions at the state level. Read more
