Greer, South Carolina is a thriving upstate city of about 39,000 residents, with rapid population growth and economic vitality. Anchored by the BMW manufacturing plant and the South Carolina Inland Port, its economy thrives on manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and logistics. Greer is served by the Greenville County School District, where schools like Greer High School and Riverside High provide IB and dual-credit programs.
However, student proficiency varies: Greer Middle sees just 27% math and 40% reading proficiency, while English and humanities performance at the high school level is stronger. With increasing economic disparity—around 70% of high school students qualify for free or reduced lunch—equity gaps remain a challenge.
