Being Updated
Recently, students at North Vista Elementary had to deal with an unexpected safety issue when members of the middle school team next door crossed a four-lane highway to get to the bathrooms during after-school practices. Reports say that athletes from the nearby school had to walk about half a mile from the old campus to the practice field next to North Vista to get to the new site. The route required them to cross North Irby Street, a busy road, which made parents worry about traffic dangers and the lack of proper facilities on site. Parents of students with special needs said that their kids were more anxious and acted out because of the stress of the walk and the lack of restrooms nearby. School district officials have said that the problem is part of a bigger plan to change the layout of the campus, but they haven't made a public timeline for when it will be fixed. This issue has gotten a lot of attention in the area because it shows how the site's infrastructure and student support aren't working well during the transition phase.
