Being Updated
Eliot Elementary School in Tulsa has had a remarkable year, brimming with instances that demonstrate the school's deep commitment to its students and their families. Recent communications to parents have centered on a straightforward yet vital concept: presence. The school has been subtly underscoring the significance of consistent attendance, all while ensuring that every family feels supported. They've provided assistance in Spanish, Hmong, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, and Marshallese. Regardless of the language spoken at home, Eliot is working to ensure every family feels included and connected. All the teachers and staff are also encouraging the students to embrace summer learning, offering engaging ways to cultivate curiosity even after the school year concludes.
The campus is also getting some attention. A major playground renovation is in progress, swapping out outdated equipment for new, ADA-compliant structures that are accessible to all children. When families experienced a temporary freeze on their SNAP benefits, the Eliot PTA stepped up, launching a school food pantry to provide immediate assistance with genuine care.
Tese type of changes show that Eliot Elementary is a part of the community and is trying to find a balance between making its buildings better and keeping its close-knit school culture.
