Being Updated
2 News and Equity Bank put on a "Read 2 Lead" event at Berryhill Elementary School South. As part of the program, every 3rd grader at the school got two books from a traveling book bus. This helped get kids excited about reading early on and build up the classroom libraries. Equity Bank also gave money to buy more books. The goal of this outreach is to improve literacy and encourage students to love reading for the rest of their lives. In another news story, people who live near the school zone have raised safety concerns. People in the area say that drivers often ignore the speed limits in the school zone on the hilly road nearby, which puts students in danger. Parents and even a pastor from a nearby church have asked for more traffic enforcement and better signs to keep kids safe as they walk to and from school. These stories show how Berryhill South Elementary School is focused on literacy and how it fits into a community that cares deeply about it.
