Mayor Ed Fare recently gave Brooklyn Avenue School in Valley Stream, NY, a special award for a book written by a student called Valley Stream—A Great Place to Live. The second-grade students who worked on this project focused on the parks, businesses, and traditions of the community. People said the book was good for teaching young people to be proud of their country.
