Being Updated
Recently, the Urban Assembly Unison School reported impressive gains from its hydroponic farm program. One year, the school grew 1,445 pounds of fresh produce, which was more than double the amount from the year before, and gave away nearly 1,000 bags of produce to the local community. The farm is part of the school’s food access and agricultural education efforts and supports hands-on STEM learning. The findings illustrate how school-based growing programs can merge education with the distribution of community resources.
