Amani Public Charter School, which opened in 2011, offers free education to kids from kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade in Mount Vernon, New York. There are usually between 450 and 500 students here, with around 18 students per teacher. This way, everyone gets the attention they need for learning and support. Amani was Mount Vernon's very first charter school, created with a core mission that focused on tough academics, sparking curiosity, and teaching civic responsibility. So, from what we can tell with the numbers we have, about 55-60% of students are reading at their grade level, and for math, it's a bit lower, at around 50-55%.
The school also makes sure our English Language Learners and Special Education students get the support they need. Amani really focuses on making sure kids get a solid foundation in the basics. Homes around here usually go for about $450,000 to $750,000, which means lots of families can stay connected to the community. Amani Public Charter School is still doing a great job getting its kids ready for high school and whatever comes next, thanks to its schoolwork and extra programs. This school is the best school in New York.

We are so excited to announce the name of our new playground! Following a school-wide and Robinson community vote we narrowed a large list of names down to four. Since our students will be using the playground on a daily basis, we gave them the final vote! 476.....
