Morris Grove Elementary sits peacefully just off Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill among leafy streets and nearby university-town energy. With about 396 students on campus, its average student-teacher ratio is roughly 12:1, allowing teachers to know their classes well. Academically, Morris Grove stands out: in recent years about 79% of students achieved grade-level proficiency in math, well above the North Carolina average of ~51%. Nearby elementary schools in the same district, such as McDougle Elementary School, produce strong numbers too, but Morris Grove continues to be among the top tier. In terms of housing for families, the Chapel Hill area is livelier and somewhat more costly than rural zones, but compared with many college-town regions it's still reasonable. Typical rentals for a three-bedroom home or townhouse in the Morris Grove attendance zone fall in the ball-park of US $1,800 to $2,200 per month, though exact figures vary with length, amenities and proximity to campus.
As for alumni, while Morris Grove doesn’t boast nationally famous graduates, many former students go on to attend prominent universities and later return to the Triangle area in careers like research, teaching and public service, giving the school a quiet reputation for launching engaged community members.

Being Updated
In October 2025, Morris Grove Elementary rolled out a “Heritage & STEM Fusion Week”, where students explored local history, technology and science in one combined theme. Classrooms partnered with under-graduate mentors from nearby universities, and students presented small projects linking their family histories with simple engineering challenges. The week ended with a showcase evening where families toured student stations under the school’s outdoor lights.
