The International Spanish Language Academy (ISLA) in Edina, Minnesota, is a public charter school for kids in grades K–6. There are about 420 students at the school, and the student-to-teacher ratio is about 17 to 18. ISLA has a full Spanish-immersion program and uses the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), which focuses on developing character, bilingual literacy, and global awareness. The student body is very diverse. About 51% of students identify as minorities, with a large number of Hispanic students as well as White, Black, Asian, and multi-racial students. About 57% of students are good at math, and about 72% are good at English language arts. The school spends about $10,040 on each student. The school is in the Edina community, which has high median home values. This makes the school a good place to be. Overall, the International Spanish Language Academy is known for its strong bilingual curriculum, diverse student body, and good academic results. This makes it a school that still has a lot of potential in both language immersion and core academics.

Being Updated
The International Spanish Language Academy sent out an update in early 2025 that talked about a few important changes. The school finished renovations that included a new gymnasium that also serves as a storm shelter. This made both the facilities and the students safer. The program structure now officially serves students from Pre-K through 5th grade, with a focus on Spanish immersion. The update also said that they would be adding more language support services and expanding after-school care to better help students who speak more than one language. These programs show that the school is still dedicated to giving students a safe, interesting, and culturally rich place to learn while also helping them improve their language and academic skills.
