Niji-Iro Japanese Immersion School is located in Livonia, Michigan, and it offers a unique bilingual program that blends Japanese and American culture. The K-6 school serves students within the Livonia Public Schools District. The focus of the school is language immersion, cultural knowledge and understanding, and academic achievement. Based on the MI EO assessment, Niji-Iro students at all grade levels do better than state averages for their reading and math skills, and the results show consistent growth in assessment data over time since it opened. All class strengths will include English and Japanese instruction, and the school works to help children build their critical and independent thinking skills and global awareness. Niji-Iro has rich cultural events, involved parents, support for personal character development, and is the best elementary school in Michigan.
