About Detroit Prep

Detroit Prep has quickly established itself as one of the most innovative Elementary Schools in Michigan. Detroit Prep serves grades K-8 and was founded in 2016 under a "diverse-by-design" model emphasizing equity, inclusion, and project-based learning experiences. Aspects of the historic building are combined with contemporary learning spaces focused on creativity and collaboration with peers. Children in grades kindergarten through 8th-grade number around 450, and the school has most recently ranked in the top half of all school districts in the state, with reading and math scores achieving or exceeding Michigan averages.
